Spearpoint runs retained search at the senior end of the market. These are real market bands for the firms we serve · market makers and prop trading, hedge funds, AI labs, exchanges, custody and stablecoin infrastructure, fintech and payments · for roles clearing $150K base and the leadership seats above them. Where a market is too thin to band honestly, we say so instead of filling the gap.

Confidential C-suite mandates, board-level comp, and live-market color don't sit in a public guide. If you need a real number, we're the desk running the search.
London is Spearpoint's reference market — every other figure is indexed from it.

Compare across markets
Dot = median base. Line and end-marks = the typical band, 25th–75th percentile.
These are median bands. The full dataset adds total comp — equity and token detail — plus 10th–90th percentile outliers and live-mandate notes.
03 · CANDIDATES
Am I paid fairly?
Pick your job title and your city, enter your base in US dollars, and we return your percentile against the band we hold for that seat.
This checks base only. Total comp — equity, tokens, bonus structure — is in the full dataset.

The public guide shows headline bands. The full release adds P10 to P90 percentiles, equity and token comparators, sign-on data and quarterly movement across 148 roles and 1,036 bands.
Got it — the full dataset is on its way to your inbox.
05 · KEEP IT HONEST
Add one anonymous data point
The guide is only as good as what the market tells us. One line · role, city, base, bonus keeps the next release accurate. Nothing identifying is stored or published.
Thank you — this is folded into the next refresh, in aggregate only.
We never publish or share an individual submission. Figures are pooled with live-mandate data before they move a band.
For hiring teams
Benchmarking built for the offer you're about to make
Public bands tell you the market. They don't tell you why your last three offers on this role got beaten — or by how much. That's the part we do privately.
Live comp intelligence tied to the mandate you're actually running, not a category average.
Competing-offer color from candidates we're placing across the same sector this quarter.
Custom bands for a level or function this guide doesn't cover yet — Board comp, day-rate structures, token-vesting design.
A second opinion before you go back with a revised number.
Tell us the role and the market. We'll tell you what it actually takes to close it.
Short version: real mandates first, public benchmarks to fill gaps, and we say so when a number is thinner than the rest.
Sourcing
Bands are built from live search mandates Spearpoint has run or is running, cross-checked against public compensation benchmarks and comparable-role data. Where our own mandate coverage for a function is thin, we say so directly in the note attached to that function — we'd rather flag a thinner number than smooth it over.
Scope
Every role carries a $150K+ base floor. We cover five seniority tiers — Board, C-Suite, Head/VP, Director, and Senior IC (individual contributors with no direct reports, still benchmarked separately from management tracks). Board-level comp is typically a day rate or retainer rather than a base salary, so it's called out rather than forced into the same band shape.
Reading the percentiles
Each band shows a 25th percentile, median, and 75th percentile in USD base salary. These are presented as percentiles for clarity, drawn from the researched range for that role, level and market — they are a defensible presentational convention rather than a literal, large-sample survey statistic. Treat the median as the center of gravity for that seat, and the 25th–75th spread as the range you should expect a real offer to land inside.
Location index
London is the reference market. Every other market is priced off a location index — grounded in comparative cost-of-talent data — applied to the London band for that exact role and level.

Coverage today
All seven Spearpoint sectors are live, each broken out by its own relevant functions rather than forced into one identical template — a prop trading firm doesn't have a Product org, a bank's digital-asset desk doesn't need its own Revenue function named the same way a hedge fund's investor-relations desk does. Sourcing depth varies by function and is flagged in that function's note as you browse: some bands (Digital Asset Exchanges' Legal, Revenue and Trading; Fintech and Payments' Finance) are grounded directly in named benchmark reports; others are scaled off those anchors using the same location-index logic applied across markets, and are marked as more directional. Board-level compensation across every sector is typically a day rate or retainer rather than a base salary, so it sits outside this grid by design — talk to us directly for board-level mandates.
Refresh
Bands are reviewed quarterly, or sooner where a live mandate moves a number materially. The anonymous data points contributors submit are pooled into that review, never published individually.
